Rick Monday... Your a great American!!!
I think this is sooo cool!! It makes me wonder how many ball players or anybody for that matter would do what Rick Monday did here! I don't think any politician would do it!! They would be scared to upset those poor ILLEGAL immigrants. I think it is pretty inspiring!!
here it is!
God Bless Rick Monday!!

Rick Monday should have kicked there asses too.
I think that is what Tommy Lasorda was doing!
rick monday, denying the right to free speech.
yeah, truly a great american.
That was fantastic!
.
I'd like to think I'd have done the same.
If I remember correctly, running onto the field during a MLB game is usually going to be followed by men with handcuffs, regardless of whether someone is trying to exercise their rights to freedom of speech or just show their fat bare ass on nationial television. They should have let Tommy Lasorda have them.
There is a time (and a way) and place to prove a point. These guys got less than they deserved.
Steve, Kiss my butt, you loser whiney little liberal!! I know that the courts say that flag burning is covered under freedom of speech. You stoopid moron! I for one don't think the framers of the constitution and the bill of rights had flag burning in mind when they came up with freedom of speech. Especially those that fought for our liberty under that flag!! There are some things too sacred to be used in this manner!! Your an idiot, so get out of here you Mouthbreather!!
no, i'm sure they had exactly that kind of speech in mind. remember, the limit to free speech is not what one group will find offensive or in poor taste but speech which will cause direct bodily harm or intimidation.
flag burning is as valid as holding peaceful demonstrations or passing out fliers.
monday had no legal right to steal the flag from these two young men. they were guilty of trespassing and should have been removed by either municipal police officers or stadium security. both groups can enforce laws in the stadium, monday cannot. in fact, his actions did nothing but disrupt two citizens' free speech rights.
but that might be a little too complex for you to understand. cretin.
Steve, cro-magnon--here's a news flash for you--FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!! Ask anyone who's fought for the rights of idiots like you! Guess what they and most Americans hold sacred--THE FLAG that represents America! Just because you can doesn't mean you should, unless you want a really good butt kicking! If you feel that way, pack your bags and go somewhere else....maybe Cuba, and send us a card to let us know how that's working for you, loser!
Steve,Steve,Steve...
Monday WAS intimidated by there actions. These idiots were starting a FIRE ON THE BASEBALL FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that not intimidating enough for you?!?!?! Monday should be heralded as a hero. He stated that when he ran upto them all that he could smell was kerosene. What if the field would have started on fire?? What if people would have been burned?? What would you say then??? Was that there freedom of speech??? The constitution also gives us the right to defend ourselves!! My right to defend myself superceds your right to freedom of speech when your "freedom of speech" can cause me bodily harm. Are you one of those people who think that we deserved to be attacked on 9-11?? Was that freedom of speech?!?!?! Steve, please comment more often. I am convinced that we can get you to stop drinking the kool-aid. Besides it leaves you with a red mustache. And that makes you look silly.
Sssstevie Boy, once again, nice job!!!
BTW, Remind me to never get on lindas bad side. You go Girl!!!! :)
Ssssssteve, thank you for the great reminder of Rick Monday.
linda, those men and women who fight overseas for the united states fight to protect our right to burn the flag if we feel the need.
the flag is only a symbol, it isn't the united states, it isn't anything holy. the fact that it is a symbol makes the impact of burning it that much more effective, which is why it's chosen so often.
steve, monday was in no way threatened, the flag wasn't being burned near him and the field would not have caught fire from one flag burning. that argument is very weak. and it's "their" right, not there.
"your starving for air and its affecting your brain"
you're, it's
i never promised to move to canada if W won, i made sure to work against him in state and local elections and to campaign actively against him in 2004. and i've made good on all three.
the crux of the issue is not one of fire safety but rather of action; monday had no legal right to take the action he did, he isn't an owner of the stadium nor is he a deputized member of a police or security force. he simply took away two fellow citizens' right to free speech.
pinhead, i think you should read your name again and remember that you might come up a little short in this argument.
i'm sure that by the time these two young men found their way onto the field security was well on their way to handling the situation and removing them from the premises. regardless of whatever "gung ho" attitude you seem to embrace, it does not change the fact that monday had no right to apprehend these two men.
again, he was not apprehending them for being on the field, he stole their flag to prevent them from exercising their right to free speech.
unless you think that by stealing the flag from them he forced the two men to leave the field.
personally, i think you'd have a better chance of making that argument, although that's like saying you're better off drinking bleach as opposed to battery acid; both arguments are losers.
pinhead, i don't think you could even fight your mother. not that you'd have a chance since i'm sure your dad beat her plenty.
listen, you're reaching for straws and, (you must be used to this) failing miserably. so far you've managed to point to two farfetched hypotheses rather than refute what i said to you.
that's ok though, you're probably avoiding alimony payments and creditors too.
If the two morons had the right to set our flag, the symbol of our nation, on fire then Monday had just as much right to rescue the flag from destruction! And if you think the soldiers who are putting their lives on the line would think burning a flag is okay, I disagree! Have you ever seen a military funeral? The flag not only drapes the casket, it is folded by the soldiers with great care and given to the next of kin with great respect. It is usually put in a glass case and preserved to be a family heirloom. Soldiers usually have a flag on their uniforms and the base flag is treated with tremendous respect.
Maybe the flag is just a piece of material to some, but it means so much more to most. Whenever I send a care pkg, a letter or card to a soldier, I always put a flag on whatever I send and if I can find them, a small cloth one in the pkg. Why? Because I want that soldier to know I believe in him and his mission. I want him to know I appreciate the hard job he's doing for the rest of us and I'm supporting him, all the way and that is my symbol of friendship, and love for a fellow American in harm's way and I want to give him strength to carry on. They've fought and are still fighting for freedom, but it isn't so some twits can burn our flag! Wake up and find some common sense.
the freedom to burn the flag is one of the essential liberties which make us unique in the world. we preserve the right to free speech which some may find offensive or in poor taste because the revolution which formed this country was considered in poor taste to many in great britain.
i personally think flag burning is a bit extreme but i still believe everyone has the right to do so. yes, the flag does hold many different meanings to many different people. however, one meaning or value does not take precedence over the other.
common sense would see the distinction between a symbol and a nation, between a tasteless act and an illegal one.
i certain see it.
but that might be a little too complex for you to understand. cretin.
It is usually the cretin, who refuses to read the very uncomplex first amendment.
Rick Monday is not the congress. Rick Monday was not the government. Rick Monday did not pass a law, denying these two fools any right to free speech, whatsoever. Rick Monday did not have any obligation to redress their grievances, or permit them to use a private television network, to broadcast their offensive political invective.
it is usually the cretin who can't use commas properly.
average citizens can also deny someone else the right to free speech. disrupting someone's exercise is as bad as getting a court injunction against them. and i mean "disrupt in the real sense of physical disruption, not just heckling.
but those are minute differences, i wouldn't expect you to see those, just black and white.
I love getting superior grammar lessons, from a person who issues the lesson, using sentences without capitalization. Blatant hypocrisy is just wonderful. It was as if you had loudly farted in the blog, and then pointed the finger of guilt at me.
But that's just a minor difference; one I wouldn't expect you to see.
If the government stepped in, to douse the flag burner, or stop Monday's seizure of the flag, that would be a proper first amendment violation, committed by the the only legal violator permitted under the constitution. It is the very same reason, that Ssssteve could choose, without any reason but his own, to summarily delete every entry you post here, without any hearing. You could do nothing about it. You would have zero legal recourse, but your hurt feelings. Don’t whine about some fictitious right you do not have.
Wow, I go on one little day trip to Bend and this is what I come back to!
Pinhead, it's not nice to intentionally goad the toads! no matter how much fun it is! and you know where Mom is! She sent us letters from prison the other day!! Silly!!
Linda and Insol, Amazing!! Niiiiiice!!!
Steve, You are wrong my friend and Insol and Linda have pointed it out rather well!! So no need for anymore. See ya wouldn't want to be ya!!!
those two idiots pointed out nothing to me. they've failed to understand that monday's actions only disrupted two citizens' rights to free speech. were they right to take the field? no. were they breaking the law by entering the field of play? yes.
was (is) it illegal to burn an american flag? no.
and it won't ever be because the founding fathers have made the case for protecting speech which many may find tasteless or inappropriate or even offensive.
if you'd like i'll even cite court decisions upholding these rights.
Listen moron you've gone on long enough! I don't give a rats rearend what you think. As far as I and plenty of others like the US Military know your wrong. So Case closed. We've shown you over and over where your wrong but you think you know better. So kiss my butt and go bye bye!!! And don't come back. you bore me! And you act like my children when they were around 3 yrs old. "but why daddy?" But why? But why? Just shut up and move on!!! Because Im not interested in what you have to say anymore!!!!!
La-T-Freakin-Da!!!! :)

Ssssteve's right, you're boring and a jackass to boot!
"monday had no legal right to steal the flag from these two young men..."
No, he didn't. But there are 11 million people living in this country with no legal right to be here. I suppose you would support some sort of amnesty for them. I mean, after all, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness and all that...
Regardless of the legality of it, burning the American Flag, MY Flag, should be dealt with in harsher terms than simply taking the flag away from the burners. You are free to leave the country you despise enough to resort to burning its flag. Please do. There are those of us here who still find pride, courage, a sense of determination, and a reminder of what is right in the symbolism the flag represents.
Flag burning is not a political statement anymore than gay bashing, bigotry, or racism. It is a show of ignorance on the part of the "protester" in that they are unable to articulate their argument in an logical manner and must resort to a show of violence - which historically accompanies the burning the American Flag – in order the accomplish (or so they feel) what they are attempting, in there feeble minds, to say.
Much like swearing, it shows the intellect of the person to be...lacking.
Rick Monday is a Great American. He understands the reverence that should accompany the flag.
You do not.
Draw your own conclusion…
And, Ssssteve…thank you.
First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Arrogant fool:
..if you'd like i'll even cite court decisions upholding these rights.
Mr Data, Plot a course for the baloney cluster, Warp 9. Engage.
Insol, and JT, That was awesome!!
Hey numnuts, you didn't happen to live in oregon any time around the 80's did ya? Your dad didn't have big ears and walk around talking about long hauls did he Ritchie?
Sorry everybody that was for JoeCool and Pinhead's benefit!
And what are you in 2nd grade or something, you sound like my kids when they were 7 and 8. When they couldn't come up with anything to refute the other side they responded with the crap you did. "Oh yeah, Well you can't spell and you, you, you Stink" " My Dad can beat up your dad" "Nya Nya Nya" "Plltthththtththt" "I know you are but what am I" "Shut your butt your teeth are showing"
Now, see I get to delete your sorry comment then move on. Because your nothing more than a piece of dog crap that I have stepped on.
I may not be able to make my point like Linda, JT, and Insol. Man these guys rock! But when you insult people I respect then you've crossed a line with me. See I will knee cap you. I'm that guy. You know the trigger guy. The one that gets things done. You don't wnat any questions asked call me! So bug off you piece of crap!!

steve,
do you get the picture yet? your not wanted here. bye bye!
Steve... sounds like your life is the one that is worthless. It seems you have nothing more to do then to insult good people with good values. It also seems as if you sit here all day waiting to see who is going to take the next shot at you and then turn around and fire insults at them. You need to get a LIFE and get away from your computer and spend sometime outside and enjoy life instead of being so angry and bitter toward others.
Amen to Lori! that being said, now fix my vacation and sick time:)

Still trying to have the last word, eh Steve--or the last insult!
Might as well give up 'cause none of us believe in flag-burning. Period. Yeah, I got the point you were making. Still doesn't make it RIGHT! And if you're going to take up for someone, do not take up for the wrong side! America, love it or leave it!
Nice one Linda. You are so right. Maybe he will get a LIFE and leave this site alone. Sure would be nice.
Sssssteve ..... I will get to your vacation and sick time when I feel like it. :-P

Oh Dear God! Do you not know when to STOP?! SHUT UP.....GO AWAY...GET LOST..how many ways do you want to hear it? Ever heard of good and bad? How about majority rules? Well, the good guys are the majority about flag-burning so that makes us right, as anyone with half a brain would know! Whether you like it or not!

oh now this is getting fun.
GROW UP STEVE! You have been asked to leave and told to leave..... GET A CLUE
haha, like i said, this is fun.
Steve, I missed the beginning of this argument, but Insol pretty much said what I was going to. You cannot win this argument. Even if the point is ceded that flag burning is A-OK, they had no right to be where they were. The first ammendment does not protect two individuals from each other. It protects an idividual's right from the government. Citizens do have a right to take action against criminal activities like trespassing. Stadium security is nothing more than private citizens hired by the stadium owners to protect the stadium. Being given the name "Security" doesn't grant them any rights under the law. All the rights stadium security have to prevent illegal activity on stadium are afforded to any private citizen.
Remember: "Congress Shall Pass No Law..."
That means by punching you in your dumb monkey face for saying stupid stuff I have done nothing more than punched you in your dumb monkey face. Go back to slummin' at DU, and KOS, you Krazy Kos Kid.
wow rag-boy, i'm proud of you, you managed to control your rage for nearly two paragraphs! i'm impressed.
i'll try to make this as simple as possible.
the first amendment restricts congress from doing certain things but the letter of the law (and this is true of all the constitution and its amendments) is written so that it restricts one group from doing something, in this case the government.
the government has no right to say "you can't burn that flag."
in the same vein, a citizen can't come up to another citizen, in a public place, and say "you (liberal, communist, feminist, red, pinko...)! you can't burn that flag! i peeled potatoes in the army for two weeks to defend that flag!"
i really hope i don't have to explain it again to you. frankly, if you haven't gotten it once then you really have no chance of ever understanding it. although, to be perfectly honest, it won't be the only thing that hasn't gone over your head, so to speak, and it won't be the last.
You must be in jr high if you think soldiers peel potatoes! What a jackass! I'd like to see you in a room full of marines trying to sell your "wisdom"! Shouldn't you be doing homework, junior?!
